Related TCP Info
The TCP project includes people from several UC Berkeley Departments and a few from outside Berkeley entirely. Within the larger project there are several sub-projects, or projects which are already beginning to use the tools and data products of the TCP.
Beta Version
DotAstro.org is a light curve warehouse which grew out of the Berkeley Transient Classification Pipeline (TCP) project. The site is still very much a work in progress as we find and add new sources and verify the imported data. Our immediate goal is to have a good sampling of as many different kinds of astrophysical object as possible. If your favorite object type is underrepresented here and you have data to share, please contact us to have it added.
Organization
Light curves in the warehouse are organized by classification, and by 'project'. The classifications are arranged in a new heirarchy designed to meet the needs of the machine classifier of the TCP. The classes began with those listed in the General Catalog of Variable Stars (GCVS) but also include stellar types not found there, and other non-stellar astrophysical objects and events.
Projects are the DotAstro.org name for the catalogs and papers from which the data originated. All sources in the warehouse contain links back to the project and in turn, links back to the original data. Since the data in the warehouse has been re-labled and converted to a common coordinate system, it is recommended that you use the original data for any scientific research.
Moving Forward
We welcome your feedback and bug reports! We are using this data ourselves and would like to build it into a useful research tool for the community. Over time, we will not only be adding more public light curves, but our own data as it is classified by the pipeline.
